FMYI helped facilitate communication and the creative design process among our diverse and very mobile design team," says Joe Marcotte, Program Manager for the China-US Center for Sustainable Development and member of a team addressing the destruction of 8,000 schools in the Sichuan earthquake in China. "With a team of architects, engineers and sustainability professionals from various organizations, it was extremely helpful to have a shared workspace accessible from anywhere. The site provides a venue for links and source documents that have been used by the team to inform their creative process. For me, it's been very convenient to share trends, policies and news items with the design team to best meet the specifications of our partners in China.
Collaborating is hard work," says Heather Lehman with the Vancouver Food Cooperative. "It requires skill, dedication, and time. When you realize that too much time is being spent on cross communications instead of clear communications, too much effort is spent on missing internal documents, and too many opportunities are passing by because volunteers have no point of coordination and volunteer coordinators are at their wit's end, you start looking for a solution. For the Vancouver Food Cooperative, that solution has been FMYI. Now, there is a simple and flexible way to sort out teams of people from one large group and ways to coordinate projects, tasks, and reporting. Projects can be set up so that communications and important documents don't get lost and, even better, can be easily found! Administration functions are easy to use and quite powerful. Everyone has been saying that they love communicating through FMYI. We have less interruption of personal email boxes, easier access to important information and contact details, and flexibility in the way permissions, content, and documents are handled. Now we can get back to starting our community owned and operated grocery store!

It keeps me up-to-date on what everyone is doing," says Jim Allyn, CEO of LitLife, a company pioneering new ideas in the teaching of reading and writing with a strong social responsibility commitment. "It has created this incredible idea generation so we can collaborate without people needing to get together or have a meeting. I sometimes wonder what we would do without FMYI. I have developed a comfort level of outsourcing this fundamentally important aspect of our business.
