not sure i get people these days. from grand proclamations on the internet (i’m retiring from blogging! i’m not! i hate blogging! i don’t!) to folks who remind me that i should tread carefully as they have x amount of daily visitors (translation: i’m web titan, hear me roar!) to those who live and die by their alexa and technorati rankings and follow them much like the nyse ticker on the exchange, to people who link and unlink people at the drop of a dime, to people who hope that the “popular” and “cool” bloggers will link to them and they light little novenas that the bloggers might even talk about them! dedicate an entire post to them!, to people who have animosity towards people they never even met, to people who wage wars over petty matters when we’ve got a war nobody but the idiots in washington believe in and a world ravaged by global warming, poverty and the list goes on.

people give the internet way too much power and take themselves way too seriously. at the end of the day, we’re just people writing on webpages, getting coffee, working at jobs, writing books, maybe meeting a couple of people…but all this craziness of web popularity, bloggers too big for their britches, is scary and unnerving.

tipped off by the uber cool worsted witch, i trekked into manhattan to check out CitySol 2006: Citysol celebrates the idea that greening New York is about unleashing, not taming, the city and its energy. Each free all-day event includes: renewable energy-powered live music featuring emerging NYC acts, interactive exhibits showcasing key innovations, practices and policies for New York’s sustainable future, and a green lifestyle marketplace offering apparel, electronics, household goods, media and much more.
