Michael Ducarel was a London partner with one of the leading international firms of Chartered Accountants which he gave up in 1985 to train as a singer. He became a principal bass with the New D’Oyly Carte Opera and has performed with various other opera groups around Britain. He has also worked in Belgium, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the USA. Michael Ducarel has performed many bass roles including The Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Sarastro (The Magic Flute), Dr Bartolo (Marriage of Figaro), Ramfis (Aida), Pooh Bah (The Mikado), Sergeant of Police (Pirates of Penzance), Sergeant Willis (Iolanthe). He was the Nightwatchman in the first UK performance of Nielson’s Maskerade, and has recorded the titular role of The Mikado, and Mr Bennett in the musical Pride and Prejudice. He also worked in Music Hall at the famous Players’ Theatre and did many seasons of Pantomime.
