Dhamtari, the seat of administration of Dhamtari District, is a small town located on the fertile plains of Chhattisgarh and is 78 km south of Raipur.It has a rich cultural heritage and is famous for its dance styles, cuisine, music and traditional folk songs. Dhamtari is also one of the major diamond producing centers in the state.
