DesiPundit aims to be the one-stop shop for browsing the best of the Indian blogosphere. DesiPundit is powered by pure adrenaline in a motley crew of bloggers scattered across three continents and six time zones that keep the blog humming 24/7. We link to blog posts that catch our fancy and those that we believe deserve a wider audience and renewed discussion. Heck, as long as no limbs are broken or spirits are crushed, we encourage debate in all forms. However, we are merely a reflection of the Indian blogosphere; we do not create content, we just link to it. Don’t be surprised if they come laced with our snarky and erudite comments though. Our contributors come with their own baggage of prejudiced but educated opinions and that clearly reflects in their linking pattern.
But seriously, DesiPundit stands for freedom of expression and wholeheartedly supports voicing personal opinion. We may not always agree with the posts we link to but believe in giving everyone a chance to speak their mind. We understand the inherent blogger need to attract eyeballs and we are more than happy to direct all traffic we get to your opinionated blog.
But you do have to write about India or be an Indian to feature on our blog. Of course, those criteria are as broad and lax as our tolerance. If you piss us off, we promise to ignore you and trust us, it is difficult to convince us otherwise once the damage is done. Personal posts are welcome but those that have a generic appeal are favored over other trivial ones. Reasonable writing skills are expected and so is respectable grasp of grammar and punctuation. We may choose to prefer variety over strict merit and that often causes people to doubt our tagline. Our advice is to enjoy the ride in the blogosphere and not overanalyze it too much.
We love taking on issues that interest us and whipping up a frenzy to generate curiosity and interest in hopes that someone higher up takes notice. India and the world in general, is a constantly boiling pot of issues that interest bloggers and we are more than eager to jump on the bandwagon. Feel free to use DesiPundit as you like; as an everyday destination to begin your mornings, a quick break between back breaking work, light reading for your lunchtime, or simply a leisurely read on a lazy Sunday afternoon. We assure you that you will find something, if not everything to interest you.
As a larger chimerical goal, we believe in contributing toward expanding the scope and influence of blogs in the Indian media. We intend to connect people though social networks by encouraging debate and interaction. We consider the blogosphere to be an ever-evolving medium that weeds out the undesirable and helps quality content rise to the top based on consistency, writing ability, and clarity of thought. But above all, blogs are meant to be enjoyed as your personal space. Even if you aren’t a contributor, feel free to chime in by sending us tip-offs to blog posts that you stumble on and wish to share with others.
