Covenant House Washington was established in May 1995 to address widespread problems of homelessness and poverty among teenagers and young adults. Now in its eigth year of operation, CHW has a philosophy of open intake. This means that the organization will never turn away a young person who takes that important first step to seek help. Our services are free and we have made conscientious efforts to assure that our services for youth are coordinated and meet high standards of quality.
CHW enjoys strong and secure relationships in the communities it serves. CHW partners with community members to identify and address complex and multi-faceted problems that affect the health and well being of children and youth. Our community focus compels us to stay close to those in greatest need. Therefore, we have identified a site in the heart of the East of the River communities we serve to build a new Community Service Center. It will be a one-stop service center for homeless, runaway and at-risk youth who come to us of their own free will seeking a second chance to lead productive, fulfilling lives. It also will serve as the Youth Opportunity Center for Far Southeast, in partnership with the Department of Employment Services.
Covenant House Washington needs your support to ensure that homeless, abused, abandoned, and at-risk youth continue to have a safe haven from the hazards of street life.
