In early 2003, New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson announced his re-entry into the local banking industry with the purchase of two San Antonio bank charters and their merger, to create a new charter, Lone Star Capital Bank, N.A.
The bank's management team includes: Chairman R. Tom Roddy, formerly president of NASDAQ-traded Benson Financial Corp; and President & CEO Bill McCandless, formerly president of Wells Fargo Bank San Antonio.
Lone Star's board of directors include: Tom Roddy, Bill McCandless, Tom Benson, Renee Benson, Larry Benson, Stanley Rosenberg, Charles Amato, Rita LeBlanc and Ryan LeBlanc. Lone Star Capital Bank has four locations in San Antonio, Texas, 40 employees, and total assets of about $127 million as of 12-31-05.
