Why use Air Motors?
Pneumatic Motors are useful alternatives to electric motors in the following applications:
- Explosive Atmospheres - electric motors can overheat or burnout and cause an explosion if explosive dust or gases are present. Air motors generally will not be a source of heat, even if stalled or overloaded. ATEX approved air motors are available.
- Frequent Start under load - Air motors provide high torque at start up, soft start is not required to prevent damage to the air motor
- Possibility of Stalling - Air motors can be stalled without damage to the motor.
- Wet or Dusty Environments - water or dust will not damage an air motor. some manufacturers offer a range of sealed stainless steel motors designed for washdown or use under water.
- When Size does matter - air motors are much smaller and lighter than equivalent electric motors
