For our purposes, Anvil is a monthly online magazine devoted to exploring a single subject -- sometimes poetic, sometimes profane -- from all angles. We chose Anvil because like its namesake, our publication is a solid platform on which interesting, substantial pieces are hammered into shape. Since this is the very same goal our artists and writers strive for in each issue, it seemed like the perfect symbol. And, in any event, it was much better than Itchy Rash or Newsweek, which we also considered.

So wander around for a while and see what you find. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll wish we had porn. But isn’t that the way life is? Also, unlike our competitors, we’ve had the lights on since 1996, so check out our archives. Just because it’s old doesn’t mean it’s bad, except if it’s Abe Vigoda.
